Apply for Jobs in NDLEA Portal: Guide for 2025/2026 Recruitment (ndlea.gov.ng)

Are you passionate about fighting drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria? Joining the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as an operative offers a fulfilling career in law enforcement, with roles focused on field operations, raids, surveillance, and supporting anti-narcotics efforts. NDLEA operatives primarily fall under the Narcotic Agent and Narcotic Assistant cadres, which are entry-level positions for hands-on work. As of December 2025, no official recruitment exercise is ongoing for 2025/2026—the last major drive was in 2023. However, NDLEA conducts periodic intakes, and preparation now will position you strongly when the NDLEA job portal opens. This guide covers the operatives cadres, requirements, application steps, and tips based on official patterns.

Understanding NDLEA Operatives Cadres

NDLEA divides recruitment into cadres, with operatives in the lower ranks handling ground-level enforcement.

The Narcotic Agent Cadre (CONPASS 05-06) involves active duties like arrests, investigations, and border patrols. It suits those with SSCE or equivalent qualifications.

The Narcotic Assistant Cadre (CONPASS 03-04) provides support roles, such as assisting in operations, guarding suspects, and logistics. It’s ideal for applicants with basic education.

Higher cadres like Superintendent are for graduates in professional roles, but operatives focus on these agent/assistant positions. Successful candidates undergo rigorous training at the NDLEA Academy, emphasizing physical fitness, discipline, and anti-drug tactics.

Eligibility Requirements for Operative Positions

NDLEA maintains strict criteria to ensure fit and dedicated personnel. Common requirements include:

  • Nigerian citizenship by birth with a National Identity Number (NIN).
  • Age: 18-30 years for Narcotic Agent and Assistant cadres.
  • Height: Minimum 1.65m (males) or 1.60m (females), with sound health and a medical fitness certificate from a government hospital.
  • Good character: No criminal record or tattoos.
  • Education for Narcotic Agent: Minimum 5 credits in SSCE/WAEC/NECO (including English and Mathematics).
  • For Narcotic Assistant: 3-4 credits in SSCE (including English or Mathematics), or evidence of secondary completion/trade test for artisans/drivers.
  • Computer literacy and willingness to serve anywhere in Nigeria are advantages.

Female applicants are encouraged, and NDLEA promotes diversity.

How to Apply When Recruitment Opens

NDLEA applications are fully online and free – never pay anyone claiming to help.

Steps based on past exercises:

  1. Visit the official website: www.ndlea.gov.ng.
  2. Click on “Careers” or the recruitment link (often redirects to a dedicated portal like recruitment.ndlea.gov.ng).
  3. Create an account with a valid email and phone number.
  4. Select the operatives cadre (Narcotic Agent or Assistant).
  5. Fill the form accurately, upload documents (passport photo, certificates, NIN, birth certificate, etc.).
  6. Submit and print your acknowledgment slip.

Applications typically last 4-6 weeks. After submission, expect computer-based tests, physical screening, interviews, and medicals.

Preparation Tips and Warnings

Stay ahead by maintaining fitness—practice running, push-ups, and endurance exercises, as physical tests are tough.

Gather documents early: NIN, O’Level results, and medical reports.

Monitor only official channels: www.ndlea.gov.ng and @ndlea_nigeria on social media. Beware of scams—fake sites and agents promising slots are common; NDLEA recruitment is merit-based and free.

If shortlisted, training is intensive but rewarding, with salaries starting around ₦70,000-₦100,000 plus allowances.

A career as an NDLEA operative contributes directly to a drug-free Nigeria, offering job security, promotions, and national impact.

Check www.ndlea.gov.ng regularly for 2025/2026 announcements—your chance could come soon. Stay prepared, stay vigilant, and good luck!
