Are you interested in joining one of Nigeria’s most prestigious military institutions? The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has officially opened its recruitment portal for the 2025/2026 intake, giving patriotic Nigerians an opportunity to serve their country in the air defence sector.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about the application process, eligibility, recruitment categories, how to apply, and what to expect after submitting your application.

What Is the Nigerian Air Force Recruitment All About?

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) recruitment is a nationwide military enlistment exercise conducted to select physically fit, disciplined, and qualified Nigerians to serve in the air defense arm of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

It is organized annually or biannually and is open to both men and women who meet specific educational, medical, and age requirements. The recruitment is conducted in phases, depending on the category the applicant falls into — ranging from basic enlistees to graduate professionals and specialized officers.

The key objectives are:

  • To strengthen the Nigerian Air Force workforce with new airmen, airwomen, and officers.
  • To recruit technically skilled professionals (engineers, doctors, pilots, ICT experts, etc.) into Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) roles.
  • To build a competent and ready Air Force that can defend Nigeria’s airspace, conduct aerial reconnaissance, and support national security operations.
  • To encourage Nigerian youths to take up careers in national service, especially in defense and aviation-related fields.
