Key Responsibilities
As an Operations Geologist at Seplat Energy, your daily tasks will include:
- Conducting Integrated Pore Pressure Prediction (IP3) and geohazard assessments.
- Developing geological well prognoses and optimizing casing designs.
- Supervising and supporting real-time wellsite geology, coring, LWD, and MWD services.
- Supporting formation evaluation (FE) planning, data acquisition, and wellsite logistics.
- Providing guidance on geosteering, casing seat selection, and formation testing.
- Reviewing and approving Ready To Drill (RTD) permits with regulators.
- Ensuring timely delivery of final well reports and geological documentation.
- Evaluating and monitoring mud logging, wireline logging, biostratigraphy, and FE tools.
- Collaborating closely with drilling, reservoir engineering, and geology teams to optimize reservoir access.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- B.Sc. in Geology or Geophysics with minimum 2.1.
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Geoscience disciplines preferred.
- 7–10 years of operational experience in wellsite geology and offshore drilling.
- Familiarity with HPHT, MPD, Jack-up/Platform/Deviated well drilling.
- Expertise in LWD/WL tools, borehole imaging, coring operations, geohazard assessments.
- Skilled in Petrel, Paleoscan, ArcGIS, and FE interpretation software.
- Excellent documentation and regulatory reporting skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work offshore when required.
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
