Key Responsibilities

As an Operations Geologist at Seplat Energy, your daily tasks will include:

  • Conducting Integrated Pore Pressure Prediction (IP3) and geohazard assessments.
  • Developing geological well prognoses and optimizing casing designs.
  • Supervising and supporting real-time wellsite geology, coring, LWD, and MWD services.
  • Supporting formation evaluation (FE) planning, data acquisition, and wellsite logistics.
  • Providing guidance on geosteering, casing seat selection, and formation testing.
  • Reviewing and approving Ready To Drill (RTD) permits with regulators.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of final well reports and geological documentation.
  • Evaluating and monitoring mud logging, wireline logging, biostratigraphy, and FE tools.
  • Collaborating closely with drilling, reservoir engineering, and geology teams to optimize reservoir access.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • B.Sc. in Geology or Geophysics with minimum 2.1.
  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Geoscience disciplines preferred.
  • 7–10 years of operational experience in wellsite geology and offshore drilling.
  • Familiarity with HPHT, MPD, Jack-up/Platform/Deviated well drilling.
  • Expertise in LWD/WL tools, borehole imaging, coring operations, geohazard assessments.
  • Skilled in Petrel, Paleoscan, ArcGIS, and FE interpretation software.
  • Excellent documentation and regulatory reporting skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work offshore when required.
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
