What is Expected as an Asset Integrity Engineer at Seplat Energy – Lagos

The Asset Integrity Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert on asset integrity, risk-based inspection, corrosion management, and equipment reliability. You will apply best-in-class engineering standards to ensure pressure equipment and fixed assets meet performance and safety expectations.

The role sits within the OP Technical Surface Department and is based in Lagos, with occasional travel to other operational sites. It offers the opportunity to lead and influence long-term asset health across Seplat Energy’s extensive portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

As an Asset Integrity Engineer, you will:

  • Assess the integrity of fixed assets using risk-based techniques and industry benchmarks.
  • Design and execute inspection programs aligned with national and international standards.
  • Conduct Level 1 and Level 2 Fitness-for-Service evaluations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead corrosion monitoring, inspection planning, and integrity surveillance activities.
  • Interpret inspection results and ensure timely communication of risks and anomalies.
  • Drive improvements using digital tools, automated systems, and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinate root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement sustainable fixes.
  • Collaborate with coatings, welding, NDT, and corrosion teams to develop integrated asset solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, safety regulations, and integrity documentation protocols.
  • Support turnaround planning and provide technical input during shutdowns and repairs.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng) in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials, Corrosion, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Graduates must have a Second-Class Upper Division (2.1) or equivalent.
  • 7–10 years of relevant engineering experience in the oil and gas sector.
  • Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, asset health monitoring, and pressure equipment design standards.
  • Proficient in risk-based inspection methodologies, fitness-for-service assessments, and pressure vessel evaluations.
  • Familiarity with API, ASME, ISO, NACE, and other industry codes and standards.
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across teams and sites to deliver integrated asset management results.
  • Must possess a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
