What is Expected as a Facilities Engineer at Seplat Energy, Akwa Ibom

As a Facilities Engineer in the OP Technical Surface Department, your core mission is to enhance the design, maintenance, and performance of production infrastructure critical to Seplat’s upstream operations. You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot issues, implement engineering solutions, and uphold industry-leading safety standards.

This is a full-time, location-based role in Akwa Ibom, with rotational assignments and travel across operational sites expected (up to 25%).

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Apply engineering skills to hands-on oil and gas facility operations, supporting infrastructure integrity and operational reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance, safety, and production teams to solve facility-related technical issues.
  • Support capital and maintenance projects across production locations.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety standards, engineering codes, and oilfield best practices.
  • Monitor systems for compliance and contribute to inspections, audits, and reports.
  • Adapt to field rotations and contribute both independently and within cross-functional teams.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng) with at least a Second-Class Upper Division (2.1).
  • Acceptable disciplines include: Mechanical, Petroleum, Electrical/Electronics, Civil, Subsea, Chemical, Industrial & Production, or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of industry experience in oil and gas, preferably in production or surface facilities engineering roles.
  • Strong technical understanding of field production systems, fluid mechanics, pipeline systems, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze performance data, and offer engineering-driven solutions.
  • Proficiency in software tools relevant to engineering design and operations (e.g., AutoCAD, Aspen, Excel, SAP, etc.).
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Adaptable to rotating schedules and changing work demands in multi-site environments.
