About the Role
The Machinery Engineer will provide engineering support and reliability analysis for rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, motors, and other auxiliary systems. Working in the SEPNU Production Division, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring optimal machinery performance, reducing downtime, and improving operational efficiency in a world-class upstream production environment.
The ideal candidate is expected to bring deep technical insight into rotating machinery, maintenance systems, vibration analysis, and OEM standards. This position is for experienced engineers seeking to make a high-impact contribution within a structured oil & gas production setting in Akwa Ibom.

Job Responsibilities
As a Machinery Engineer at Seplat Energy, you will:
- Develop and implement proactive machinery maintenance and reliability programs.
- Conduct performance analysis, condition monitoring, and troubleshooting of all rotating equipment.
- Lead and execute Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and recommend cost-effective corrective actions.
- Carry out vibration analysis, lubrication diagnostics, and thermography evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (API, ISO, ASME) and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to manage equipment condition changes and risks.
- Monitor reliability KPIs and drive continuous improvement in equipment availability.
- Coordinate overhauls, upgrades, and machinery modification projects.
- Engage with OEMs and service vendors to ensure high-quality repairs and spare parts management.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A minimum of a B.Eng in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Minimum of 7–10 years hands-on experience in machinery reliability and maintenance within the oil & gas sector.
- Minimum of Second-Class Upper (2.1) or its equivalent.
- In-depth understanding of rotating machinery such as compressors, turbines, pumps, and associated systems.
- Proven experience in equipment diagnostics, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
- Professional certifications from bodies such as API, ISO, ASME, or related institutions are highly desirable.
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate is mandatory.
