What is Expected as an Operations Technician at Seplat Energy
The Operations Technician will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of production equipment and facility systems. This includes daily surveillance, proactive issue detection, and implementation of best-in-class safety standards and maintenance procedures.
Based offshore at QIT Field Office, this full-time, rotational position is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in oil and gas production environments and deep knowledge of hydrocarbon equipment.

Job Responsibilities
As an Operations Technician, your daily tasks will include:
- Operating process equipment within defined parameters to ensure safe and steady production.
- Predicting, detecting, and reacting to abnormalities that could lead to safety or reliability issues.
- Complying strictly with operational procedures under the CAS Standard.
- Supporting a zero-incident workplace by fully utilizing Work Execution Systems (JSA, LMRA, O&I).
- Leading or supporting facility safety systems, hazard identification, and safety inspections.
- Reporting non-compliance or irregularities and proactively implementing resolutions.
- Maintaining control systems and equipment to support production optimization.
- Preparing work packages for planned maintenance and emergency readiness support.
- Supporting Emergency Response Programs in line with operational requirements.
- Adhering to all applicable industry and regulatory safety standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of HND (Upper Credit) or City & Guilds Finals in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Petroleum, Process, Instrumentation, or Civil).
- B.Sc. holders in related engineering disciplines may also apply.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of operational experience in oil and gas production environments.
- Deep understanding of process plant operations, controls equipment, and safety standards.
- Proven ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated adaptability in multi-cultural and offshore teams.
- Valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate is mandatory.
